No, antidepressants aren't something to tango with.
While you feel that you can just stop taking them, talk to your doctor. You need to let your psychologist prescribe lesser amounts.
Like with any medication given to you, especially long-term medicines, you need to talk to your doctor before quitting. The withdrawal from an antidepressant could be worse than you imagined.
Make an appointment for next week.

Do not do this without discussing this with your doctor. You are not suppose to go off of them cold turkey. Side effects of doing that can throw your body into a deep depression, and you can have anxiety attacks that can be VERY dangerous. Especially since you have already overdosed due to the depression. Prozac is nothing to mess with on your own. Discuss being weaned off of them gradually if you do not want take to the Prozac any longer.

I think you should wait, but you are on the Only depression medication that Does Not have an adverse effect on you if you just stop taking it. I know, I research this medication before I would let my Psychiatrist Rx it to me. I didn't like it, it made me withdraw even more, although the "crying" stopped, within a 2-mo period, I had almost No emotion. I quit and learnt to "live". You, have to take the first step to a Healthier You. Good Luck, and I hope this information helped you out..

Feel free to discuss going off of it with your doctor. S/he is your partner in treatment, not the person who has god-like power to make all the decisions concerning your health. It's more than OK for you to let him/her know how you are feeling and what you want to do about it. Also, you will want to wean off slowly to avoid withdrawal symptoms and the dr can help you do that properly.
I'm bipolar and will be on meds forever, but some people do not need long term treatment with antidepressants. Sometimes a shorter course of meds helps get you out of a crippling depression and allows you to move on with your life.
If the depression is chronic though (repeatedly comes back), you may want to consider staying on the medication.

Depending on medicines for anything and everything has become a style to the mankind. Nobody seems to realise that medicines can only give symptomatic relief and cause iatrogenic diseases if consumed longer. While under medication, one should always try healthcare th'gh natures own way till total health is restored/regained. At any stage, the doctor himself will evaluate the conditions and advise accordingly.

Absolutely under no reason should you take yourself off of a drug that affects hormones in the body without first talking to your doctor. Many Antidepressants, when quit cold turkey cause a dump in the hormone levels and can cause sever effects.
It is important to also tell your doctor that you want off the meds, so that they don't think you are still on them! Not to mention that they can tell you how to safely go off of them.

maximum likely, you'll go back to the psychological state you've been in formerly you began taking the anti-depressants, likely worse. besides the undeniable fact that, searching on what kind of anti-depressant that is, it would want to have consequences even extra severe than what you've been experiencing. those drugs are designed to examine a psychological stability for you. by not taking them, you're throwing the steadiness off again. i might want to strongly propose adverse to preventing your routine and fairly consulting your well-being care specialist and explaining why you want to give up taking them. He/she may have an more advantageous option for you.

Like with any other type of medication you must consult your doctor about the reductions in dosage. It has to be done gradually, so that your progress and any possible effects can be monitored.

No do not quit abruptly. Consult your doctor and ask him to help you to withdraw the drug. The withdrawal should be gradual. Please do not do the mistake of dumping it without consulting your doctor. You must put your self on some Yoga and deep breathing exercises
