Ok, so now i get how to do that whole 'Xn+1=Xn-f(x)/f'(x)' part of Newton's Method...but Im having trouble with finding a 'general rule for approximating the radical' when given the other info...

x=sqrt(a) [Hint: f(x)= x^2 - a ]
-------------I came up with (Xn^2+a)/(2Xn)

but now im not sure how to use this new function to approximate the sqrt(7) to three decimal places...help anyone?

When running a linear regression between Degree of Urbanization and the Ranking of a country on the Human Development Index the result is that there is a "__________?????" relationship (R-squared = 0.51). This means that 49% of the variance of Human Development Index Ranking is not explained by the variance in the Degree of Urbanization. Meaning that being highly urbanized doesn’t necessary relate to or mean that a country will Rank higher on the Human Development Index.

Can someone please verify my logic behind my statistical claim and identify the meaning of R²=0.51? I want to fill in that blank.

This is for extracting various alcohols and water from a solution without having to maintain the solution at a very high temperature. I think it might be less energy intensive this way, but I have no data on energy needed to maintain a vaccum. What is the wattage on some of the pumps able to do this? Could it be cost prohibitive compared to just boiling at full temp?
