A better question is why the heck would they put such a retarded and extremely anoying character in our favorite Star Wars saga in the 1st place? I know his role was very important for the fall of Anakin, but dang - they could have fixed his character to be a little more fan friendly, (and the younger Anakin as well - another anoying addition and poor sad actor)

I am with you. He single handily ruined the first movie. Lucas must have been on drugs to make up a character like him. At least in 2 he was only in a few scenes, I wish one of the scenes would have been of him getting blown away.
