i have just started teaching accent reduction in a university in Mexico. I have been teaching phonics, but perhaps, a more direct approach would be more effective for my students. The phonics rules are confusing and until syllabilization is mastered, the rules have too many exceptions. Perhaps I should work on the specific problems Spanish speakers have with English, and spend a lot of time on stress and intonation. I would greatly appreciate feedback from you guys. TIA.

I don't want anybody to give me any of the answers. I'm really looking on how to set up the problem to get to the answer. I just started physics and I want to understand it because it's interesting but I'm having some problems. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i had this best friend n v used to get along really well. about a month back, i told him abt the person i loved n after somtime me n tht person got hooked n my best friend dosent knw abt this. problem is as soon as i told my bestfriend about this, he stopped talking to me. he started acting wierd. i told this to my boyfriend n another friend of mine n both of them think that this guy has the hots for me. i even talked to my bestfriends friend n he told me that he dosent sleep or eat nowadays n is really depressed. his grades r also falling drastically. i desperately want to talk to him coz he was once my closest friend n i like him a lot. but hes just not ready to listen to me. what do i do?

I feed my fish brine shrimp and flake food. And please don't say, "But bettas hate flake food!" because my betta has always loved flake food. Anyways, today I fed him, but he would barely eat! He would eat the flakes and spit them out, and try to eat the brine shrimp but still mostly he spit them out. He doesn't seem as active also. What is wrong with him? Does he just not want his food? Not hungry? Or health issue? Please help!

In both cases, the government data shows a disturbing trend, with reported steroid use among women increasing four-fold over the last decade. Stewart is also concerned by a study that showed not only football players and weightlifters, but females in the 9-to-11-year-old age group using them to enhance their build. "That's scary because it means parents are buying them for kids. And it's a scary thing that society is dictating to kids that young that it's OK to put your health at risk to have a body type that seems so critically important," Stewart says.A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey suggested that 5 percent of high school girls have abused steroids. And when the Oregon Health and Sciences University assessed its steroid abuse-prevention programs in 13 Oregon high schools, it found twice as many female non-athletes used steroids as athletes, which researchers attributed to a desire to look thin yet fit.
