my computer's clock does'nt work when my computer is off . when i start it shows the same time at what i shut it last time . i am using a via chipset .

is that a laptop of PC. it's rather quite rare in PC, more common in laptops. it's because the CMOS battery which is supposed to keep running specific thing like Clock is not working properly anymore. but it's quite difficult to change it and in fact, you might have to change your mother board. consult professional. this is my guess only.

I don t think the CMOS battery is the problem because the time was the same after the machine was turned on. I have the same problem, and changing the battery did not solve the problem. If it was a dead CMOS battery, the time would be reset to the default factory time.

Get a new battery for the computer, sounds like that is it unless it is a virus. If it is the battery you may have problems with the bios too. Keep and eye on that. You will know if for example your CD drive is not working. Make sure the anti-virus program is run first before getting the battery.

u open the cpu and check wheather the clock cell is weak
and change it
it would be in a circle of silver color
