Try The Grand Wailea Resort on Maui in the Hawaiian Islands or any resort in Hawaii is the best the states has to offer. I see you are from the U.K. So if you don't want to fly as far try Florida between October and April. The Pensacola area is not as touristy as lower Florida and has very pretty powdery sand beaches and beautiful blue gulf water.

South Beach in Miami if you're looking for beautiful people and a party atmosphere. If you want a more relaxing choice with still plenty of nightlife options I'd opt for St Petersburg Beach/Clearwater Beach on Florida's Gulf Coast. The water is beautiful, Clearwater Beach has white sand and the nightlife of both is tropical and more laidback. It's far less expensive than South Beach as well.
Check out Ybor City in nearby Tampa for great Latin restaurants and nightclubs.

If you're off to Florida I'd bet on Clearwater.
We've visited most of the Florida beaches and like Clearwater the best. It's a great beach and there's a nice marina and boardwalk there too.
Before the recent hurricanes Fort Myers was the best, really trendy, lots to do.
Cocoa beach and Daytona are quite nice too.

Clearwater / St Petes, they have one of the best top 10 beaches in the World + your only an hour away from all the theme parks that Florida has to offer, even less for Busch gardens in Tampa I hope to go next year and drive down to the everglades.

Come to Myrtle Beach, SC and play some golf with me. Besides golf (100 + gorgeous courses) there is horseback rental for riding the beach, wonderful restaurants, scenic cruises, Opry-style entertainment if you are into that country stuff, botanical gardens, lots of things to do. Bon voyage!

Hard to say since there are so many. try this website below. The reviews are written by people that have stayed at the places listed. This is good because you get the real deal, not what the hotel wants you to hear.
