Further to some answers recieved which insist its the gravitational pull of the moon.. GREAT, thats what we all have learned. That being the case, why doesnt this gravitational pull suck us up to the moon?? were made of mostly water are'nt we? do we feel any effects of this gravitational pull on our bodies?
I still feel there is some rocking of the earth going on.. Can you explain your gravitational pull with reference to smaller bodies of water, eg swimming pools? i think the rocking of the earth is caused by the earth wanting to go in one direction, (asteroid effect)and the moon pulling it in the other direction YES gravitational pull!! but with the rocking back and forths of the earth. But because earth is so huge we dont feel the rocking. Why is the earth still rotating on its axis millions of years after the Asteroid impact? theres got to be a more complex answer than simple gravity.. I think earth is rotating and rocking, somewhat like a continous vibration
