People have gotten soft. They don't want restrictions.. Regarding the person who said not wanting to be catholic because no sex before marriage.... don't you think that its selfish to commit such a huge sin with someone, causing major harm to your souls... why harm someone if you love them? if you aren't catholic, don't make comments, you clearly don't understand why we live our lives the way we do... once again proof of weak flesh!

And because people are scared of what they can't see.... my question is, you can't see the wind, but you can feel it, therefore you believe there truly is wind.... well you can't see God, but you can feel his grace/love... and you can see all of his creation... and people still choose to not believe....

We are nothing without God... If He wasn't thinking about each one of us all of the time, then we'd all die... He knows every hair on our heads, and every breath we will take, and helps us to take each breath... But most people (myself included) fail to think of Him and pray to Him, because we are too selfish thinking of ourselves.

Its time people stepped up to the plate and started fighting against evil and fighting for souls, and to help each other get to heaven... Most just don't feel like it, they allow themselves to be defeated before they start!

More freedom of choice, better education, less persecution, shifting powerbase, empowerment of secular social groups, increased awareness and knowledge of scientific discovery...

Basically, people did not always want to be part of the Christian faith. It was forced upon many and usurped older traditions (e.g. Christmas at winter soltice). In days gone by you would be cast out/ hung/ burned as a witch etc. if you didn't play along. The church had the money and the power. Ordinary people were illiterate.

Now we have access to the internet, daily news piped to our TV and radio, magazines, books and journals. We can calculate the age of the universe and estimate it's point of origin, we know the world is round because we've seen it from space. The more we learn, the more we realise religions have got wrong and the less likely the existence of God(s) becomes.

Most people are pretty much left alone to make up their own minds based on the information available to them and decide that the Christian faith is not the answer to life, the universe and everything. There is no dnager involved in making such a decision.

Just like when you know there's no Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus, you stop being so keen to tidy your bedroom, because you're no longer afraid Santa won't get you any presents, people no longer have any reason to pay lip service to the Christian fairy tale.

People don't want anything to do with christian faith for a lot of reasons:

They don't believe that God exists
- Yup, as of today there are still atheists, and those people who have they own stand in life.

They believe on what is proven on experiments.
- Some people are too scientific...they believe in everything that is " to see is to believe."

They have lived a decent life.
- Others would say, "Why should i believe or follow God, when i myself am living a decent life,,,i am a good person, good enough for my life..."

They don't need God in their lives.
- Some people find religion no sense at all. They say, "These religions won't do anything good, whatever! It's too traditional! Religion is too traditional! And besides, these religions confuse me a lot! No sense at all!!! I can survive life without these religions, and without God either! I can do better without God! I make my own my decisions, and i control my life...MY LIFE..."

Now i tell you that these reasons are not enough to completely survive what life truly means....yes, we don't need tradition...what they are missing is their faith....not the religious practices but their trust to God.

There is more to life than what you see and what you think.....don't you get the idea that man has always been imperfect? If we don't need God, then how can you explain our existence?

There is more i have too say because i stand to Someone....Superior than me....Someone who controls my life and gives me wisdon beyond the wisest man ever lived....

You see, we have our own limitations....we can never solve all the problems in the world....because we are human....no matter how we try to be independent we still can't find the perfection and all the answers we are looking for....

I believe in God because He gives me the true reason to live!

Well, I would not classify it as all people. I live in the bible belt area and teachers and kids actually have conversations about God and the Bible in school, when it comes up. In this area, you are definitely a minority if you do not attend a church!

I would say, though, knowing some people who are Chrisitans but do not like to go to church, it is because of many who call themselves Christian but live differently. How many Christians do you know that are prejudiced against gays? Basically anybody who thinks or lives differently than they do are wrong and do not deserve rights or laws that may uphold those rights. So many of these Christians are not following the New Testament, in my opinion.

Jesus tells us to love everybody and to not judge. Granted, I believe that we should let people know if they are living against God's wishes but in a loving and caring manner. I also believe that our country was founded because of religious freedom and that all should have the same rights no matter their religion or absence thereof. I believe that gays should be allow to have the same rights that married people do. (I just use this example because it is shorter to say than others.)

Many Christians are very judgemental and that is exactly why I do not usually identify myself as a Christian, even though I am. God will sort us out in the end. In the mean time, love everybody as your brother and treat them accordingly.

The main reason is because its so much easier to just do what you want, whenever and however you want without having to consider the feelings of others, answering to a higher a power or to make judgements based on morals and values. Lets face it, its harder to do the right thing. Especially when society is telling teenage girls its ok to be sexy and hey, its ok to have sex before marriage and while you're at it waste hours a day sitting in front of the tv absorbing more nonsense that will hopefully corrupt your mind a little more.

Have you noticed more and more things that were taboo are just widely accepted in today's society? That's sound of millions of people walking away from the love of God.

Well, alas, I'm not sure that is correct, the christian right seems to be on the increase in some places (USA, for instance!) and cynical wedge tactics like intelligent design are causing all sorts of problems.
But I hope these are the death throes, and society will wake up to the fact that all we have to show for 2000 years of salvation is a legacy of intolerance, racism, misogyny, homophobia and ignorance.

For the religious, the worst thing that ever happened was the education of the masses, because they were able to question everything, including religion. The ability to read opened up a whole new world to them,Instead of behaving little better than dumb animals doing & believing what they were told to do & believe, they were able to form their own beliefs,& realised most of what they had been told was a load of nonsense.

Not so. The number of people professing to be "Christian" is growing at a faster rate than population.

Many people reject the message becaust they want to live a headonistic and selfish lifestyle. Christianity is not condusive to this.

Because a lot of people have found comfort in other things, such as family and friends, and they have realized that the Church actually is against a lot of things they stand for, like abortion, homosexuality, free speech, freedom, liberated sex, tolerance, and other things. Plus, TV, Internet, and the media have distracted them from Christianity, and they found out that it's much funner to watch TV than to go to Church.

Because people have a wider access to information now, scientific and social.
People are more equipped to make up their own minds about things nowadays and a lot of people have come to realise that religion doesnt make much sense when faced with scientific facts.
