I moved out of the house about 5 months ago and my dad complains that I don't visit enough, which is true. I don't visit more often than I do for several different reasons, but I told him that I'd be more inclined to come over and visit him if he didn't smoke cigarettes. I hate everything about them, the mess, the way they smell, they make your hair and clothes reek and it irritates my sinuses. Even when I go back to the house when he's not there, my clothes will reek of cigarette smoke when I leave. He goes outside to smoke when I visit, but it doesn't eliminate the problem. Anyways, he's kind of offended that I told him that, but it's how I honestly feel. I didn't give him an ultimatum or anything or tell him I'd visit when he completely stopped smoking. I just said that I'd visit more if he didn't. I wanted some outside opinions. Do you guys think it was wrong of me to tell him that?

I'm thinking about writing a book tentativley called: And You Think You've Had a Bad Day!

I'm trying to collect people's funny stories/experinces that have happened to them over the years. I'm starting to collect some real doozies!

I really appreicate your willingness to share any true situations that have happened to you, a friend or you saw happen to someone else.

So take a moment and think back on those things that you'd rather forget. Hey, maybe this is cheaper than therapy.

Here's one that happened to me about 30 years ago..I once walked (accidently) right through a freshly poured cement sidewalk. The construction workers were sitting just yards away having lunch with their backs toward me. I couldn't beleve I walked through it and believe it or not I just kept walking and didn't tell them. I was about 50 yards away when I heard one of the workers started screaming at me.

Ok, don't laugh. And don't tell me to go brush my teeth, this is embarrassing enough. Helpful hints only please.

I have had halitosis since I was about 6 I think. Basically as long as I can remember. No one has really helped me with it, and even when I go to the dentist they just tell me to brush after meals, before bedtime, floss, rinse, etc. I've been doing all these things with no improvement. Mostly people just laugh. And no I don't smoke, I do stay away from coffee, onoins, spicy foods, etc.... I've been brushing with baking soda, no help, I've bought kits from the internet and special tounge scrapers, gums, mints, mechanical toothbrushes, toothpastes, all no help. There are other people with this problem, I'm sure I'm not the only one, but no one ever talks about it. I need to know what I'm missing. Is there a cure for this? Or maybe something simple I haven't tryed yet? Do any of you have this problem, or know of anyone who does, but manages to keep it in check?

You're welcome to use your own definition of what constitutes "good" people.

Best: Any Texas city except Dallas, Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, Mobile, North Carolina's Triad, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Cheyenne, Salt Lake City, Madison, WI, New York (passionate about their city and actually pretty open to strangers.) Friendly folks, helpful, charitable to others when times get bad, prideful of their cities.

Worst: Louisville, Lexington, Any city in Ohio except Cincinnati, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City, Washington, DC, Baltimore, Orlando, Miami, New Orleans. Where hospitality is not as common, people are more likely to be rude and impolite to your face, and folks tend not to have as much pride in their cities (except Chicagoans, they love their city.)
