I had similar problem...I used to switch off the main and switch on again...it used to work...then I found my ram socket is dirty..I pulled it out, cleaned and put it back...now OK.

It sounds like your HD has failed. If D, E, F are partitions on the failed drive you may not be able to recover the data without spending a small fortune for a data recovery service. Only you can determine if the cost is worth it.
If they are separate drives, buy and install a replacement C drive, re-install windows, then access your other drives as usual. Windows will recognize them when you re-install but they may not have the same letter as before. Good luck!

Oh ok that is serrious problem: did you reinsert the disk in hard
drive? well according to D,Eand F they needed to be upgraded
because any data can be lost if not loaded correctly see here diskett is aC.D rom program for windows XP system or newer type of computers plus anti virus scan required ask a computer

Hopefully your data was backed up as it sounds like the hardware crapped out - you can try to remove it (unplug comp, open case, remove connectors and replug them to attempt + check to see if HD if seated firmly) otherwise as a last ditch effort see if a friend has a symantec ghost recovery cd laying around and see if you can boot from it to see your HD - if so copy all necessary files to removable media & attempt a fix (boot to MS DOS and try c:fdisk /r) - good luck

try to boot from a live Linux distro(cd) like knoppix then check if you can access the drives you mentioned.
another way is try to boot from the windows xp cd then form the recovery mode try if you can access the drives
if you can install hddlife www.hddlife.com/eng/download-freeware.html
and check the status
