The usual argument against it is that it would violate freedom of speech, but IMHO it goes much deeper than that. Burning is the time-honored way of respectfully destroying a soiled or tattered flag (ask any Boy Scout), so the enforcement of this law would require a judgement of what the person was thinking when the act was performed. George Orwell coined the term "thoughtcrime" to describe this, and it was one of the most terrifying aspects of the totalitarian govenment in his famous novel 1984 (a book that should be required reading for all Americans). If we ever get to the point where we can be punished for even THINKING we disapprove of our government, we will have lost everything our forefathers fought to secure for us, and the flag will no longer have any meaning.

The flag is a symbol of our freedom, but the Constitution IS our freedom. Which would you rather preserve?

I'm an international student in the US and today I was supposed to fly back to my home country, but I was given permission because my passport has expired and I've totally forgotten and missed to check the expiration date on my passport. At the airport they told I won't be able to fly today and that such a frustration for me. So there I was told that I need to go to my home country's consulate and get an extension for my passport and then if I have a chance, the flight company can schedule a flight date for me. So my question is does anybody know how long it usually takes to get an extension from a foreign country's consulate. It's unfortunate that on weekends it's not open so I gotta wait till Monday. Can you give me any advice? It'll be more than appreciated! HELP! PLEASE!

I have a Pomeranian! She is miserbly allergic to fleas! She breaks out in large welts and itches "INSANELY!" She's ripping all her hair out in chunks! Is there anything I can do for her or give her to give her some releaf? I treat them faithfully and it works, but they still get bit when they go outside and that's when it happens! I've taken her to the vet and they give her a few steroids but I don't want to keep doing that to her! Are there any more natural products out there?

i do.i think as long as a marshal law government isn't in the picture, their should be an Army branch or Marine that just deals with gangs like the crips and blood and any other what do you think. and i give it like 3 days with full lock and load and there wouldn't be any gang in the US.
