Pujols is definitely the best overall hitter in baseball, he can hit for Average, Power, Produce runs, he strikes out rarely, in year 2004, he nearly had as much home runs as strike outs (46 home runs to 52 strike outs) His On base percentage is consistent, his OPS or On Base pluss slugging percentage is always .955 or above.
Johan Santana might be the best, for the last three years yes, but there are pitchers getting up to his level, Jake Peavy, Rich Harden, maybe even his own Teammate Francisco Liriano. Johan Santana is just dominating with his nasty Circle Change, and that dirty slider along with his 95+mph on his fasteball. He's a lefty and they are special for baseball, In about a couple of years, he might not be the best, I'm guessing it'll be his teammate liriano (if he doesn't go through the sophomore jinx!)

You are 100% right. But now, as a minnesotan, Fransisco Liriano is catching up and following the footsteps of Johan. Its always good to have a teacher and a student.
Pujols is the best. He would also be better in the ranks if he hadnt been injured for a couple months.

I have to argue that Johan Santana is the best pitcher in baseball right now. Last year, It was Chris Carpenter, this year it has to be Papelbon or Halladay.

Liriano is a close second and don't count out Papelbon. But if you have to pick one starter, it's definitely Santana.
