I'm looking to take a nice scenic road trip from Chicago to California and back possibly this summer. I want to go through the northern states to Cali then travel to Southern Cali and work my way back through the Southern States. I want it to be a scenic roadtrip with cool stops along the way. I am looking to find a possible route that has already been made. I don't want anything generic though with just major destinations. I would like off the beaten path type of stuff. Cool towns, interesting and sometimes wierd landmarks, that kind of stuff. Anyone know where I can get such a map, whether it be from a book or website? I would like it to be pre-made if that's possible.

We have a friend who wants to come from ghana to the united states who is telling us she needs five thousand dollars just to prove she can take care of herself once she's in the United States & will return the money to us when we meet up? Is there really a charge for passenger traveling allowance? Please Help us decide.

Is there a website or agency specialised in that? Or what alternatives can I have? Basically, I want to land in Houston, drive from there to Miami and take my plane back to UK there. Is this possible without exploding my budget?
Detailed answers only please. I dont need a 'go ask a travel agency' kind of reply. Thank you all in advance!

I am 32 with a 15 year old son. I live in Montgomery County Maryland (WAY WAY WAY more expesive than West Palm Beach FL) and I want to move to West Palm Beach FL Jan 08. I will have about 6-10 grand when I am ready to move. My question is with me living in Maryland and wanting to move to Florida how can I look at apartments or rental homes in Florida while still livng in MD. I cant catch a plane everytime I see a home that looks like a nice rental. I was thinking of getting a vacation rental home for a month and hopefully find a place to live in that amount of time. Any suggestions?

I went to South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama recently and left with an extreme dislike for the people there. I am from Virginia and a friend who travelled with me is from North Carolina. To the people we encountered, we were "Yankees" and they treated us very badly. I was shocked by this due to the fact that Richmond, Virginia was the capitol of the Confederacy and my ancestors in both Virginia and North Carolina fought for the south. Not to mention we "y'all," "sir" and "ma'am" just like the rest of the South. I was deeply offended because I have always considered myself 100% Southern, and deeply hurt by these people's extremely rude behavior. I just don't understand why they acted the way they did. Maybe it is true that people in the Deep South are just ignorant?

which city is better to spend 7 days in.

I think Denver would be, because Denver has a combination of city and nature (the relatively close Colorado Rockies), which Chicago is just a flat city by a large lake.

What do you think?

I am driving from Wisconsin to Portland Oregon at the end of April. I am terrified of heights! Even the hills in Portland, bridges, and very high overpasses gives me anxiety!
I am wondering whats the best way to get through the Rocky Mountains (I-90 through Montana/Idaho panhandle??), and if its very steep and scary with small roads, or what??
Anyone have pictures of the Interstate roads there, and/or personal experience stories with driving through the Rockies on I-90?

Also, will there be ice or snow up there at the end of April?

I'm 18 and I was born in brooklyn, Ny and moved to Yonkers when I was 4. Since my dad still lived in Brooklyn I would go there every other weekend and summers. When I was 10 I moved to Croton-on-Hudson (in westchester county ). Then when I was 12 I moved to Georgia. After I just turned 18 I moved to Pheonix. Now, when people asked me where am I from what do I say? or what do I say when someone asks me i where grew up? or is it the same thing? If somene ask I usually say NY and then they ask what part and don't know I should say if I am from Yonkers or Brooklyn. I usually say Brooklyn though.

Today I was going through a small town, checking out the farmers markets, taking a scenic drive, etc. and a cop told me to stay away from his town.

Is that normal?

I have always wanted to move to Orange County. I'm seeing good things about it on TV. Is it really like what TV interprets it to be?

Should I move there? I was planning on somewhere like Newport Beach, or Anaheim Hills.

I don't mind earthquakes or fires; natural disasters aren't a factor. Oh, and money isn't a factor either.
