which city is better to spend 7 days in.
I think Denver would be, because Denver has a combination of city and nature (the relatively close Colorado Rockies), which Chicago is just a flat city by a large lake.
What do you think?

I might be going in a couple of weeks and I'm trying to pick one of those two locations...
and I'm from NYC so highrises don't impress me either

If you have money, Chicago is by FAR better. If you're on a budget Colorado would be better.

First of all, you already sound like you have made up your mind. I have spent time in Denver and lived in Chicago. I would have to say it depends on the time of year. Summer I would hit Chicago, winter definitely Denver. It really depends on what you like to do, you really can't compare the cities without knowing what you enjoy doing.

speaking for myself a no brainer, DENVER! Chicago is drab and dying while Denver is ALIVE and growing.
Chicago does have a great history though and after ny, san fran, la, and miami is one step abobe philly and boston so it is surely a worthy place... personally i grew up in nyc and now live in the philly area so cities dont impress me much, you may find it terrific if you want to see and urban center.... it has tremendous heritage and you can have a great time there.

well i use to live in denver...currently live near chicago
If i had to pick, I would go with Denver, its easier to get around, and the scenery is above reproach
