I'm 18 and I was born in brooklyn, Ny and moved to Yonkers when I was 4. Since my dad still lived in Brooklyn I would go there every other weekend and summers. When I was 10 I moved to Croton-on-Hudson (in westchester county ). Then when I was 12 I moved to Georgia. After I just turned 18 I moved to Pheonix. Now, when people asked me where am I from what do I say? or what do I say when someone asks me i where grew up? or is it the same thing? If somene ask I usually say NY and then they ask what part and don't know I should say if I am from Yonkers or Brooklyn. I usually say Brooklyn though.

I grew up in MA, lived in ME, moved to CA.
People in CA ask me where I'm from when they want to know in which city I live. I ask them to specify whether they mean where I was born/raised or where I currently live.
If I were you, regarding the question from the "where were you born/raised?" perspective, I'd just say NYC but moved to GA when you were twelve. Most people you meet won't differentiate between NYC and NY state, let alone different counties and boroughs. If they do ask which part of NY you can say you spent time in Brooklyn, Yonkers, and Croton-on-Hudson.
The only people who will really care which part of NY you identify with are other people from NY. Others are usually perfectly satisfied with a more general answer.
If you feel a stronger sense of belonging to any one place then that is where you are from. It's where your heart is from.

Which place do you relate most closely to? I would use that, then explain further if asked or the situation warrants it.
Many people say something along the line of "New York but I live in arizona now".
