I don't know much about subway routes / lines etc. as I am going to NYC firsttime. I know there are some websites for some information.
But is there any free online books (pdf etc) which I can download and print which has Subway numbers lines/routes and maps ? I want to keep it handy.

I guess I can get it when I reach in NYC but wanted it now as I want to do some homework before my trip and decide itinerary. So that I dont get confused when I reach there.

People's advice for going to New York always seems to be to keep my wallet in my front pocket instead of the back as I'm used to. Are pick-pockets really that big a risk? I tend to wear tight pants and I can't fit my wallet in my front pocket.

family affairs and what not. so my question is this: does any one know of any good places to go that are not very expensive. I’m a nanny and my new employers have said their small town is about a 38 min drive or a 20 min train ride from manhattan. I like museum type places and right now I live near San Francisco so if any one could give me any ideas I would love it! oh plus do you happen to know if any type of Renaissance fair or medieval fair visits the New York City area ???? thank you for any and all helpful answers!!!
