Fun things to do in Times Square?

I wanna plan a trip to nyc and i deff wanna visit times square. anywhere in particular i should do there??

Other than the big electronic billboards, I just don't get the attraction of Times Square to tourists. It's all chain restaurants and chain stores that are anywhere in the US.

What is the big deal at eating at an Olive Garden or Ruby Foo's in NY as compared to Olive Garden or Ruby Foo's in Dallas.

Or going to a ToysRUs or Billabong in Denver.

Go to Soho, Central Park, Brooklyn Heights, instead. Much more interesting and fun.

If you like MTV, you could visit the MTV studio. You could visit Madam Troussard's Wax Museum, BB KIng's Music Club, buy Theater tickets at Duffy Square, most nevertheless watch all of the lights glow and flicker.
