It is a great place to live. Lots to see and it well.. never sleeps! I think it is a good place for college kids because there is a lot of clubs and stuff there. Also if you are into big sites to see and like Tall buildings this is your place. You are never going to be bored in New York City. And the good thing is, if you can't afford a car, then you don't really need a car. Walking is a common thing in NYC as you proboly know. Plus in NYC 25% of the people are "skinner" than others because they walk so much to their destination. It is expensive to live there but it is a good place to live. You might hear a siren every 10 mintues but it is a good place to live. Also it is pretty safe. Cops are everywhere. Also if an emergency it takes the cops or firmen etc. to get there in just a jiffy!

I lived in the upper east side of Manhattan and I loved it. I lived there for three months and I'm going back in August to live again. It's actually pretty laid back and chill. There are alot of downside. Things are pretty expensive, but everything is convenient. There's always things to do and see. I lived five blocks away from Central Park, so I went there every week just to relax. As a college student, I think there's alot of advantages for you. Internship opportunities and you don't have to pay the outrageous rent like others. Things are fast paced, but you'll learn that the craziest time to catch a taxi is in the early morning between 8-10. Taking the train around 2 is cramped. Visit there before you decide to take the move because it might not be for you.

It depends on your definition of nice. It's very fast paced, and you'll never get bored. The food is great, the people are interesting, and there's something for everyone. I'm from Texas, and I loved New York when I went there for vacation, but I can't imagine living there and getting any studying done. It's really sensory overload. If you're extremely motivated and focused, it's possible to succeed. I would definitely go there for a visit before making a college decision.

It's projected that NY Metro area will have a population of 35 million by the year 2020. Today it's 22 million. Why? NY is where the good jobs are at, and if you're smart, lucky, and a go getter, you could really make an interesting career for yourself in NY.

I've visited many places across the US, and NY is by far the greatest state there is. You gotta have street smarts to live here though. Go for it, if you don't like it, you can always transfer to another school.

the outer boroughs are actually also great places to live, and you're close to Manhattan at a much cheaper price.

Only if you have a lot of money and you don't mind running into crazies everywhere you go. Manhattan is okay but the other boroughs? Forget it.
