Im trying to dial a 310 to Culver City number but it wont let me dial from my cell phone or home phone. I even dial a 1 before the area code. Im dialing from the 818 to the 310. Whats wrong here??

I recently found out that I've got a rare disease that will probly kill me in about 10 years. I am from Australia and I've probably got about 50,000 australian to get me to LA and get a job and start looking for acting work. I have been acting here for a long time and done some television gigs but now that I'm a gonner I have to just pack my bags and take the plunge before I end up a vegetable. I need to know from people living there what my best course of action would be as I know a lot about the industry in oz but nothing about it in hollywood. I need some insider info please.

I am going to a wedding next month near LA, and will be there for a few days. What are some cheap, inexpensive, or free things that I may enjoy while visiting for the first time?

I am already planning the hollywood walk of fame and seeing the hollywood sign. Any other cool, cheap things to do?

It doesn't have to be a nice apartment. I don't need fancy services. I know there has got to be mediocre buildings without the gardner and pool man and conceirge. I just need a place to live and I don't want to pay $1400 a month for a studio. I am looking for a 1 bedroom under $1000. Any help you could give would be most appreciated. Even if you just send me the name of an apartment building and it's general area. Cheers!

On an upcoming trip, we are starting in San Diego and then going to Anaheim to Disneyland. We have two extra days that we don't have planned and I am curious whether we should go to Los Angeles, the mountains for hiking, palm springs, or to the beach.

We are a 30-something couple who likes the outdoors as well as the city.
