The local newspaper is The Daily News. Contact them and see if they might have published the obit. Their info is: The Los Angeles Daily News, PO Box 4200, Woodland Hills, 91365. 818-713-3000 or 800-346-6397. Their website only has obits back one year, so give them a call and ask for the library/archives dept. Good Luck
