I was thinking about The University of Califronia Santa Barbara. Or UCLA. Is it nice living in Southern Cali?

if you live in california, then the UCs are good choice because they're really cheap

Santa Barbara is BEAUTIFUL
UCLA is nice, the dorms are really good and it's in Westwood, which is a cute little area (the LA film festival is there)

traffic sucks
be comfortable driving on freeways...it's necessary
the weathers nice...sometimes it's too hot--so you go swimming or to the beach lol...it's chill

VEEEEERY expensive!!! Santa Barbara has the highest cost of living in the state, even worse than San Francisco. Because they have such a small airport, it's pretty costly to fly in and out; LAX is 100mi south. UCLA is a bit more affordable. Try to do as much research on West LA and SB before you decide which direction you take.

SoCal is the best "if" you know where to live and to hang out. Otherwise it can be a tough place to live. The places you mentioned are great. But I must caution you they are not cheap. Rents and the cost of living can be pretty expensive. The weather here is awesome and so are the activities. I go to the mountains more than the beaches. Because their are less restrictions there. Meaning you can drink a beer without getting a ticket. Plus on the beaches if you're caught having sex you can go to jail. Less law in the mountains to contend with. The night life is great. I would rather deal with the occasional earthquakes here than what many other areas have to offer. Like tornado's and hurricanes. At least after a quake theirs something left to fix. Best of luck to you.

its safe to say where ever your coming from, its gonna be a whole lot better..S.Barbara is nothing like UCLA, SB is peaceful coastal town, as opposed to UCLA, its in the city of Westwood, a suburb of LA..you can basically do anything you want, your in a huge metropolis, and Santa Barbara is just about 2 hrs from Ucla..either way you wont go wrong
