I live in the LA area. Not many celebs hanging out on the streets in Hollywood, though. They're trying to fix the place up and doing a good job but for a long time it was been over-run by gangs and different types of crime element. There are a lot of stars living in Hollywood hills, though.

HI!!!

Hollywood is not the type of town where you are going to see celebrities walking down the street. I live in NJ and I have seen more celebs here than out there. It is a very touristy spot. However, I think you are still going to have a great time since it's your first time there!!!!

I went with my sister and cousin on vacation there and we were taking tons of pics by the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Some of the people that have stars are ...(mary-kate and ashley, christina aquilera, mariah carey, ben stiller, tom cruise, mel gibson, clint eastwood....just about everyone.) So if your interested in the celeb life....you are going to have fun just walking around. It's also fun to take pics of the street signs...hollywood blvd or sunset blvd. So have you camera ready at all times...tons of photo ops!!!

Right by the stars...is a theater...and you can climb the stairs and see a view of the famous "Hollywood" sign. So that is pretty cool to see!

As far as shopping, the stores in that area are very touristy and mostly sell celeb type souveniers. So they are going to be overpriced...I really didnt see anything that I wanted to buy anyway.

Definitely head down towards Beverly Hills...you have to see Rodeo Drive ...if you want to see some of the upscale stores that the celebs stop in. On your way....stop at the famous Beverly Hills Hotel to take a pic!

I think they also do tours around Beverly Hills so you can see some of the houses. I didnt have a chance to do that but it sounds like it would be really cool!

Ohh and for lunch....you should go to In-N-Out Burger...its the popular fast food place out there and it's not expensive at all!!!

Have fun!!

Was there Sat. night.. walking the streets around midnight with my family and big sons. No problem.. Just stay on the main streets.. No celebs. homeless, typical street people.. a few nice clubs for the younger people.. Parking cost 20.00 was there about 4 hrs. food not too expensive.. didn't buy any souvenirs.. I live in N.Ca. not interested in Hollywood tee shirts etc.. Have fun..

Well, you would like seeing other things, Hollywood Blvd has almost nothing interesting except maybe the Chinese Theater, however if you are staying in L.A. you definitely have to go to Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, have breakfast or lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel (USD$30), i found Vin Diesel at the Hotel, also i found Jhonny Knoxville having lunch at a Dinner in Lincoln Rd, i definitely have good luck. For shopping or expending the day you should try Santa Monica i liked a lot, its a huge street to walk and do many things and shop too.

I lived in Hollywood for many years. There are no celebs that walk the streets of Hollywood. Its a dirty, stinky town. Lots of homeless folks there. On Hollywood Bl from around Highland there are a few fun things to do, but don't get your hopes up. Celebs live in Brentwood, Beverly Hills, West LA, Malibu, Santa Monica, etc. NOT IN HOLLYWOOD

I have been to Hollywood a few times. I didn't see any celebrities. It wasn't as big of a deal has I'd hoped. There are lots of places to see. Get a book about Cali and check out everything you can.

its probably gonna be really crowded bc its summer. i wasnt too crazy about it though. i saw the street with all the celebrity handprints and walked around that area. i suggest you do some kind of bus tour, they have a lot of options. if youre interested, last time i went there was a map of where some celebs lived and even a tour going to their houses. sadly, you cant go inside lol

It's so cliche and touristy, but go to Universal Studios! It can be expensive if you want to buy food and stuff, but looking at all the behind the scenes hollywood is so much fun. ;-)

Yes, I've been. It's a bit of a tourist trap--kinda dirty. Zero celebrities--most wouldn't be caught dead there. You probably have a better chance of seeing celebrities on Rodeo Drive, but don't count on it.
