whera can i camp out next to the beach but does not require a rv to stay?

It is illegal to sleep out at any Los Angeles beach or park, all you can hope for is to find a private camp ground, I just did a google search and it seems there are none. I lived in southern California and I don't remember any, the beaches are pretty much public or military, some parts of the coast don't even have beach.

Unfortunately, camping at the beach here is illegal. Dang.
