We are visiting Anaheim next month, and, being an electric wheelchair user I won't rent a car. I'd love to go to a Dodgers ballgame and visit a beach. Is this possible with public transportation? Give me suggestions, please.

unfotunally there is no public transit to the dodger stadium
the nearest stop in on Sunset
the best idea is to get to Union station then try for an accessible
taxi from Union station;here's one additional idea
(it takes some work thats to call and if you are a member
of another para transit agency (your para-transit would fax Access services your info) you could call
Access services to get a visitor ID number
If you ARE NOT a certified Access Services rider, contact Customer Service at:

* Phone: 1-800-827-0829
* TDD: 1-800-827-1359
* e-mail: cserv@asila.org
then once you are register you could take Access
all the way from your hotel (or disneyland to Dodger stadium

however to get to the beach from Anaheim is much easier
from you have a couple of choices
first you if you can get to the Anaheim Amtrak/Metrolink station
then board either Amtrak or metrolink to Los Angeles
then you roll yourself to the transit plaza to dock 1
then board a Santa Monica #10 for Santa Monica
(cost will be 50cents)(Santa Monica does not honor metrolink tickets as transfers)
or you could go to Venice by taking the Metro line 33
from Dock 6 free with your metrolink ticket
or 25cents off peak fare

good luck

Do you have ADA Access Service? If so, call Access and you can do this kind of traveling better than using a bus. Otherwise, read the following.

I would call 800-COMMUTE, that is the best way to find out how to get from Point A to Point B using public transportation in Southern California.

While there are certainly buses that go from Disneyland to downtown L.A., I don't believe there is a bus that goes all the way up the hill to Dodger Stadium. I would call 800-COMMUTE to see if you can schedule a taxi van or something.

As for the beach, yes, there are many buses going to beaches. Call 800-COMMUTE to find a schedule. You will need the address or intersection of your starting and ending points, and times you want to travel.

Here are some phone numbers you may find useful:

Metrolink Trains

MTA - Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Los Angeles County

OCTA - Orange County Transportation Authority

your best bet is the metrolink train, it runs to union station in downtown la, then you can go by either bus or taxi to the stadium, its 10 minutes away...make sure the dodgers are playing, if not the angels are nearby
