I am heading to Melbourne and want to visit someplace that most do nto go to see. Maybe even a place that most people who live there have never really been. I hate going to the normal "tourist spots" I want to really experiance life in Australia.

We have 2 toddlers and a baby. Can anyone recommend cheap holiday accommodation in Victoria, something the kids will enjoy? We've enjoyed going to a farm stay and country type holidays where there's lots to keep the kids busy.

I'm moving to Australia from the US and I have to drop T-Mobile (though I love them so). What's a good prepaid plan down there? I already have a GSM phone, so I'll use that. I want one with good rates to call the US and still use in Australia. I believe how expensive cell phone rates are there!
Thanks!

I am getting a new car and the choice is most likely going to be between the Commodore and Falcon, I have driven the basic 2000 vt sedan with fe2 suspension and found it to be a nice ride at good speed and a car that picks up well. I have also driven the basic 2002 falcon and this picked up very fast, I was going over 100 k's before I knew it......I am considering these cars as we are looking to start a family in the next few years and we both like bigger cars.....Laura drives a 2000 SS Commodore but I currently drive a 1992 Ford Laser so this is a big upgrade for me later this year and yes I will look at the performance models of each marque I am just looking for advice, Commodore V's Falcon, which one and why??? either base models or sport models infact I would almost prefer a sport model if I get the falcon...

please advise
Mitch

note: must be a sedan in whatever I buy

My best mate and his wife have recently moved to Brisbane and it is our intentention to visit them for a few weeks sometime during 2007. I've heard that an amalgamation of buget airlines, headed up by that nice Mr Branson and Mr Stelios are getting together to offer cheap long haul flights around the world. Anyone know if this is a fact, if so when it will happen, and roughly how much they are likely to charge for say 2 adults and 2 kids, return to Aus?

I once heard that New Zealand is a second world country. Coming from America, is that true and what does that mean? Why does it fall under that classification?

I'm a college student from the U.S. majoring in Business. For the longest time I have had a facination with New Zealand and am more passionate about moving there than anything else I've ever experienced in my life. I've read and studied and all I hear are positive things about it. The one draw back I hear is business and jobs are not as readily available as other places. Can anyone tell me anything else that could be a con about New Zealand? I know the good, just want to know the whole story. Anyone tell me something that has moved there from America so I can compare something? Thanks!

Hi,
We're moving over to Sydney next year, and are considering locating in the Northern Beaches, but I'm after some guidance on which particular suburb to choose.

We're a young family in our 30's with a 5 and a 3 year old, so we want the mix of beach and a good town nearby, a good school, and transport links into Sydney CBD.

Pricewise, we'd be after a 4 bedroom house priced between $700 and $1m, which I know won't get me beach-front, but I'm hoping to be within walking distance of the beach.
Any advice on which areas might be better than others?
