Yes, Australia and New Zealand are both part of 'Australasia' which is a region within the continent of 'Oceania'. There are also many other Pacific island nations that are part of this continent.

Australia is the common name of the Commonwealth of Australia (As it is still part of the UK) as well as the name for the Continent itself which includes Australia and proximate islands including Tasmania, New Guinea, the Aru Islands and Raja Ampat Islands, whereas Oceania is the term used to include not only Australia but nearby countries such as Paupa New Guinea, New Zealand etc. Polynesia would include many Pacific Islands such as Fiji, Tuvalu etc. New Zealand is not part of the continent of Australia as it is not on the same plate and continental shelf as Australia

Well, first off - Australia IS a continent, and New Zealand would be a country associated with that continent. However, they are not of the same land mass.

Australia is the worlds smallest continent and New Zealand consists of two major islands located to the south of the Australian mainland.
Together we are known as Australiasia.
