I'm moving to Australia from the US and I have to drop T-Mobile (though I love them so). What's a good prepaid plan down there? I already have a GSM phone, so I'll use that. I want one with good rates to call the US and still use in Australia. I believe how expensive cell phone rates are there!
Thanks!

Exactly what aingelic said plus if your moving to AUS, the term cell phone should be left at the Airport when your boarding your flight to Australia. Once you land on Australian soil start getting use to the world MOBILE PHONE :-)

Vodafone 365 day Pre Paid plan. Its not a plan, they just call it that. There is no contracts, no nothing.

i think its around a cent a second (85cents 1st min, 60 cents there after) and unlike the other pre paid plans like telstra cent a minite, there credit only lasts 30 days with Vodafone, u pay a little more and get 365 lasting credit and a bonus $10 credit after your 1st recharge with a $30 or $50 recharge with Voda to Voda free minitues.

Best way to go. SMS is 25 cents.

So insted of paying $30 a month, pay $30 in what ever time it takes you. There is also a vodafone cap plan. For $49 an month, you get $250 worth of talk and SMS. Heres the website

Vodafone Prepay Caps

$49 will get you $230 worth of credit

$79 will get you $500 worth of credit

$149 will get you $1000 worth of credit

Otherwise there are other prepay options like the:
Txter, Talker, Night Talker or 365 Days

vodaphone pre paid caps. Although I highly recommend getting calling cards (pharmacies and newsagentssell them). You may also like to look at VOIP if you have a computer
