I want to go to Japan for a while to just get away, I know a lot of schools in Japan take on British people to help teach the kids English but I don't think I would be so great with kids, are there any other jobs in Japan that isn't labour intensive and the language barrier isn't too big a problem? Also one that would help with accommodation would be good.

cheers!

I'm looking at staying at the Dai Ichi Annex hotel. Its very inexpensive and looks decent. Right in the heart of the Ginza I guess and close to the subway. Appears to only be a mile from Roppongi. Thing is, I'll be going to Roppongi to party at night and don't want to have an issue getting back when the trains stop. I don't mind taking a cab, but don't know how much it will cost and if it will be a hassle. The hotel price is very cheap, so I'm thinking it might be worth it. What else is around Ginza beyond shopping. I will also be sightseeing during the day.

I travel into asia on a regular basis and need to avoid specific dates. Rather doing an individual seach on the internet as to whether any countries I'm about to visit have a bank holiday / celebrate chinese new year, etc, it would be nice to have a single page which I could print out... I don't mind even buying a paper calander if there is one!!

The main countries which I travel between are Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, etc etc

Does anyone know of a site that either sells or offers good calanders displaying Asian events at a reasonable glance, rather than searching by each country!!??

i've seen a group that has this description: ANTI FILIPINO PRIDE
ANYONE, regardless of race, ethnicity, and nationality, is cordially invited to join this group to unite everyone against the detestable philosophy known as FILIPINO PRIDE. This group is NOT meant to cultivate hatred toward Filipinos but hatred toward the ideologies and philosophies behind "Filipino Pride." Instilling "Filipino" or "Pinoy" pride in the hearts, minds, and souls of Filipinos has brought us nowhere and doesn't make us any better than those who aren't Filipino.

Now that South Korea has a new President, what would foreigners living in Korea like to see accomplished by the new President?

I would like to see these issues improved -

1) The Trash problem - The new President should improve this.

Plastic bags on the road add to rodent problems. Each household pays a monthly fee for pick-up. This may eliminate illegal disposal.

2) Unregistered Vehicles - I suggest the Government start a "2-sticker on the back license plate," showing month and year of registration, with proof of Insurance and Safety Inspection when registering. This eliminates uninsured & unregistered drivers.

My wife says the South Korean Government would lose millions of Won if these requirements are implemented.

Currently, a Driver only pays a twice-yearly tax for a vehicle, without proof of Insurance. Also, showing proof of registration would result in revenue loss for the Government.

Would would you like to see improved within Korea?

I'm going to be in Tokyo from December 28, 2007 to December 31, and then in Sendai from December 31 to January 4, 2008. I was hoping to see some Japanese sports, like sumo wrestling or kendo (swordfighting). Can anyone offer suggestions on what to see?

I see from the sumo site at http://www.sumo.or.jp/eng/ that there is no major sumo tournament during this time, but are there any minor tournaments? (I don't know if the beginners compete at the same events as the ozeki and yokozuna, or if the minor leagues have separate events, like in USA minor league baseball games).
