I will be going to China to study abroad in Beijing and I would like if you people can fill me in with what to expect. And I ask this because I answered one question (in this category) concerning a person's dislike for China after a few incidents he was involved in that had to do with theft/crime. And as I read almost all responses from people, it sounded as if China was a little dangerous.
I want to know: Who are you, why did you go to China, how long have you been there, anything bad happen to you or someone you know while you were there?
I want to know from the people living in China, whether you are a Chinese citizen, an American working or studying abroad (or anybody), what were your experiences while you are there?
And if you have never been to China, and if you do know about what goes on there (crime related), give me some sites/links. And be honest.

It has to be popular so I won't have too hard of a time finding it. Any genre is fine, as long as it's not about Muay Thai...I've watched too many action movies recently. Also if it's in Issan, even better, I won't have to read the subtitles...but if it's in Thai that's fine too.

Thanks!

What's the price range on how much fashion designers make in hong Kong? I'm planning to apply that job and don't know what to answer on the expected salary question. I'm a fashion designing and merchandising graduate in the philippines and got little experience in the industry.

Hi,

I will be traveling for three months through SE Asia, including Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia starting in mid-September. I consume many herbal dietary supplements for my health, but because of possilbe complications getting them through customs (the herbs come in bulk with no original packaging per se), it looks like I might have to find these Chinese and Indian (Ayurvedic) herbs in each respective destination.

So, I'm asking about Laos here---any city, but especially in bigger ones like Vientiane. Do you know of any herbalists or herbal shops which have Chinese and Indian herbs, especially encapsulated herbs? Health-food stores? (I'm looking for largest shops, as they are more likely to have the specific herbs I need.) Any names or search tips on the internet would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, we are travelling to Boracay (9/15 - 9/18)and Bohol (9/19-9/22) in mid September. Our route is fly from Manila to Boracay, fly over to Cebu and take the ferry to Tagbilaran, then fly from Tagbilaran to Manila. Since we are making connections at Cebu, I thought of maybe staying overnight (9/18) and exploring the sites - might as well since we are already there. What must see places in Cebu can we visit in only one day? Do we seek a tour guide or do the touring ourselves? Also since it's low season and more budget friendly, we've thought about just purchasing airline tickets and scouting hotels/lodges/inn once we get to Boracay, Cebu and Bohol, then book tours at the hotels. Would you advise that versus purchasing an entire package? This is our first trip back after 11 years so I'm really excited about planning this and exploring our beautiful country! Any insights would be appreciated!

P.S. We aren't sticklers for fancy resorts, as long as there's A/C & safe, we're all good.

I'm going to Japan next week and flying in to Narita. I'm staying at my friend's house, which is pretty far from Tokyo. Before I go down there I want to spend a couple days around Tokyo, and I don't want to drag my luggage around.
So the question is--can I send my luggage ahead to her house using Kuroneko or something? Do they have a counter inside the airport, outside the airport. . .?
I know you can send your luggage TO the airport, so I assume you could send it from the airport as well. . .but does anyone have any details? Thank you!
