Travel - 8 December 2007

I am taking a new position 1/2/2008 that involves four flights a week. This week I flew to Denver on Delta and felt that I was screwed around with. I tried making two changes and they wanted to charge me for both of them. I wanted to skip my last leg of my return flight and they wanted $75 for this. I then asked about getting an earlier flight out of Denver and that was another $50 fee. I'm done with Delta after this....

Has anybody visited Amsterdam in February for a short visit ?

I'm going to be doing this and was wondering what your overall experience was like.

I'll definitely heed the advice of some of you and wear plenty of layers to keep myself warm. But i do plan on sightseeing exclusively through the GVB tram and night bus network and will be doing a lot of walking.

Like the airline cannot hold you prisoner on the plane once the toilets are full, or they have to let you off the plane to walk around if the air conditioning fails, or basic stuff like that. Or do most people think all air travel would come to a screeching halt if we had to be treated like humans instead of cattle?

Having recently been in Egypt for the second time and loving it, we went to Cairo for a day. At the pyramids there were young boys selling things. They weren't doing any harm and didn't bother us but some people were rude to them. They are only children.
Nearer the Sphynx I came across a little boy called Farouk. He offered me a free bookmark. I sat on a wall with him chatting to him. I gave him my fan, a packet of sweets, and some money. He was the lovliest boy (about 10) that i had ever met. He was so cute and polite. He talked about football and said he liked Scottish people. There was a teenage boy hanging around him and i was worried incase he would take the things i gave him. Then this boy came over and started saying that Farouks father had three wives, and this really upset the poor little boy and he denied this and said his father had only one wife. I told the older boy to go away and leave him alone. When i had to go Farouk shook my hand and bid me farewell. continued below

hi i am considering starting a new adventure business where we would send a group of people (around 30) to a deserted island for 3 months while on the island the group would have to build a shelter and cooking area even a long drop (toilet) with materail supplyied and a supply of basic food and cooking equipment while on the island there would be other challenges wich will be for a day or a week long such as building a raft or mini olmpics and was wondering if people would be intersted
or am i kidding myself i have put a lot of work in this but i stand to lose alot if it fails please let me now ur thought or questions

People from England, Scotland or Wales constantly complaining about people calling them British? How is that different than someone calling me, someone from California, American?
I realize that the make up of the countries are different. Wales, Scotland and England are separate countries, and the states are not. But we are both part of larger entities.
I also know I am making a generalization, but do you know what I mean? If the 3 above mentioned countries are all part of Great Britain, why are there so many against being called British?

The response I saw on FOX news from the US Airways Spokeswoman was truly shocking!!

Apparently the flight was overbooked, (surprise..surprise) and the family decided to split up; the Mom stayed behind with her parents, and the Dad took the two kids onto the flight with him to go home.

The plane was so disorganized that once onboard they then found they had no regular seats left and the attendant offered to place the 8 year old up into first class; but, when no seat was found there either, the attendant simply removed the girl from the plane without notifying the father until after take-off.

I was disgusted, and I want to send the story info to my friends and family as a warning about Holiday travel; does anyone have know of a link to the story???
