I am currently visiting Japan and am interested in a couple jobs on base and possibly staying here for a while if I can find a decent good paying job.

My question: what is the most efficient means of getting a SOFA stamp to be able to apply for the jobs on base here...?

Does anyone have experience with my situation?

I am visiting my Japanese wife on my passport and have base access as I am now inactive military. One place (MWR) on base told me it would take 4-6 weeks after I turn in the paperwork to be sponsored by them to get a job.

What other possibilities are there or jobs people know of that they need positions filled?

I'm going backpacking to Europe starting Oct. 1 to Jan 2008. I'm going alone which means i'll be spending x-mas and nye alone for the first time. But i don't mind, since i'll be traveling in europe. For those of you who live there or travelled during the holiday season, where is the most beautiful place to spend your holidays? Should I spend x-mas in Paris and party in amsterdam? What do you guys think?

I just got back last night, I had a great time. I took advantage, of the Package deal, they offer this time of the year, which included the Dining Plan, the Park Tickets. I stayed at the Disney Music Resort. They made me air fare arrangement, and I must say even that went well. No delays, coming or going at the airport.

Next year, I plan on taking the Disney Cruise.

I want to move from Australia to Los Angeles to live and work for a year. I have been told by people that Glendale is a safe and relatively cheap place to live. Is their any jobs that people can reccomend around that area? I also require accomidation, and a vehicle. How much would all of this cost for a year and how much income could i expect from an average job? Also, what is a cheap, reliable car that is easy on fuel?
