I've lived here in Denver for a couple of months and I was wondering if anyone knew of any cool stuff to do.

i.e. places to eat, outdoor spots, parks, shops, neighborhoods, etc.

Places to eat: I have discovered many neighborhoods in Denver by trying to find good food. A great way to explore the city is try to find the best Italian place in town (I suggest starting at Gaetano’s at 38th and Tejon, moving up Tejon a block or two for a sausage cannoli at La Chuga, then trying Patsies on Navajo, move out to Vincenza’s on 44th just west of Wadsworth) or the best Taco in town (start at Tacos Rapidos in the K-Mart parking lot on Federal and Evens, then move up Federal, and then try the places north of 38th on Tejon).
Outdoor Spots and Parks: I think Wash Park is nice, but too crowded. It is worth a visit if you have not been. Try walking a section of the Highline Canal trail on the south east side. I like the section just east of Kent Denver school, off of Quincy just east of where Colorado Boulevard comes to an end. It is a great place to take the dog for a walk, or to take a flat bike ride. If you want something a little more adventurous, head out to the foothills. Mount Falcon Park has some nice trails, and the Jefferson County Open Space system has some great parks (I like Mathews Winters park, which is just off of I-70 near Red Rocks. If you drive north from Red Rocks to the highway, the entire ridge on your left is Mathews Winters). Red Rocks is nice too, and if you get there when there isn’t a show that night, you can walk out on stage and play your own acoustic set.
Shops and Neighborhoods: you will find them looking for food. I also like the area around Broadway, between Alameda and Sixth. There are lots of funky shops, a few bars, and some nice, if a little run down, but improving neighborhoods on both sides. Next Friday is a first Friday, which means you can go to a First Friday Art Walk. Get online and find one. You can enjoy free wine and art, and see a new part of the city. Come back during the day to see some of the shops you missed.
You will note that I have been avoiding Downtown. There are a few places worth checking out (if you must go downtown, try the Cruise Room in the Oxford Hotel, where they can make you just about any classic cocktail without consulting a book, or go to El Chapultepec for live Jazz). On the whole, I think Denver is about the unique neighborhoods, and most of the Lodo bars are about as generic as they come.
Sorry for the novel, but as you can tell, I have lived in Denver my whole life and love it here.

Denver is nothing like Steamboat. The latter is a ski resort filled with rich liberals. Denver is a flat cowtown filled with conservatives--and people who are more friendly and down-to-earth. It's predominantly a family town, and it's nearly 90 to 100 times the size of Steamboat. Is Denver "cool?" Well, not really. But it is a great place to live and raise a family.

Bass Pro Shop in City of Commerce is a good way to waste a Saturday afternoon. Then, there is a great sports bar in Wheatridge (Next to the TA truckstop) that is a great way to spend a Saturday night. Both have good food and plenty of distractions to keep you entertained.

if you like good japanese food go to osaka sushi, it's in the king soopers area on exposition and south colorado boulevard, it's close to rubio's grill, anyway osaka has the best california rolls i've ever had and they had a great appetiser called dynamite which is baked mushrooms and scallops. this restaurant has great food at a quite good price and not snobbish at all.
