We are going to move to the Edmonton area, and would like to know what a great neighbourhood to live in would be. I would like to live fairley close to an elementary school(2 kids in grades 2 and k), no crime(or as little as possible) and an area where we can have a decent and private yard. It doesn't have to be in the city anywhere with in a 30 min drive will do Can anyone help?

I used to live in New York state, now I live in North Caroilna. When I lived in Buffalo, NY, and people asked were I lived in a chat room or something I would just say New York. And they would always ask something like "OH DID YOU SEE THE TRADE CENTERS FALL DOWN?" or they would ask what it's like living in such a big city. It used to get annoying.

New York State doesn't get any media attention at all, hardly ever. It's always New York City. When was the last time CNN or FOX news said anything about Buffalo New York (the 2nd largest city in the state) or Albany New York (the capital)?

I got a terrible handwritten poetry rejection from a market I can't identify. I get rejection letters on slips or with cover letters. But this is hand written on a scrap piece of paper with terrible handwriting. It's in Detroit Michigan with the zip of 48225. The address in 1335 N. Canbarna or something like it. I can't identify the town, other than the Detroit date stamp. Do you know any markets from that area? At mapquest, it said Detroit and Harper Woods. I know this isn't a travel-related question, but Michigan residents might help me out, I hope.

Me and my wife came to US in 2004 with me being on H1 and she on H4.Meanwhile in 2005 we processed her H1 ( change of status from H4 to H1) visa through a consultant. However they were not able to find a job for her so they cancelled the H1 and she came back on H4 status. Meanwhile she started studying in a university with H4 status. Now both of our H1 and H4 visa and I-94 are expiring in Dec 2006. So I am applying for I94 extension through my company. But my company is asking me to apply for status change to L1 instead of H1 extension. They are saying they have some problem in applying for H1 extension.
So, in this whole situation my question is whether there will be any problem in my wife's visa extension( which would be a change of status from H4 to L2 actually). She just has one semester to complete her higher studies and she would be graduating in Apr 2007. But if her visa extension is rejected for some reasons, then she won't be able to complete her studies.
Please help!

I'm going to visit a friend in Denver for skiing. Breckenridge's "opening day" is November 10th. Coming from the northeast, I know that just 'cuz the lifts are running doesn't mean its worth your time (poor coverage, few open trails / lifts). Does anyone from that area (or someone who visits that area a lot) know when it is safe to make a trip out there and find good snow and a high percentage of open trails? I know the weather between now and then will probably have a large effect, but I guess i'd wonder if they engage in heavy snow making early in the year, and let the natural stuff pile on over the winter.

I'm moving to NC (20 miles north of Charlotte) from Florida (Tampa Bay) in a couple days for an indefinite amount of time and I'm wondering what type of climate changes I should expect? Does it snow in the winter? I've never seen snow and that's something I'm really excited about. I'm used to wearing tank tops and shorts on a daily basis with flip flops and just adding a hoodie occassionally.
