I ski on Atomic Beta carve c:9s that are 170cms. I am planning to get an all mountain ski for better float and power thru crud. I mostly ski east coast, and I'm an advanced skier. My hight is 5' 10" 190lbs. Can I safely go to 178? Or should I look on the 168-170 range.

I've been skiing since I was 3 years old (ahem, that's 34 years now) . . and I want to throw away my corporate lifestyle, head to the hills, and be a ski instructor. Looking to head out to Montana, Wyoming, or Colorado.
I imagine it's a pretty competitive market, given the lifestyle.

Does anyone have any tips or career advice on how to become certified in ski instruction, any good places to live in the West, and any places in need of ski instructors.

Thanks in advance for your answers :-)

Are there any ski veterans out there who will reveal the secret of a long skiing life and what tells you when you are no longer fit enough for the slopes. Is it intuition or a physical feeling?

Has anyone been skiing up in the Northeast? I'm interested in going but I'm not sure where there are good conditions? If you have any insight or personal experience that would be nice!

I'm a beginner skier; I’ve been only 3 times. Every time I've rented skis so never thought twice about what size they were!
I was given skis from a friend (used skis) the boots fit well, nice and snug, but how do I know if the actual skis are the right fit??

I'm about 5'5 and weigh 105 lbs.... by knowing this information, would someone be able to tell me what size skis I would need? ....I'm going skiing this weekend, I need to figure out if I can use the skis that were given to me, or rent some.
Thanks in Advance! :)

Hi. I have a set of skis poles and boots we found in a closet in our new home in Chattanooga, TN. I want to sell them but also (obviously) want to get a fair price for them as well. The poles are scratched up at the tips, but the skis and boots look barely used at all. These are made for a petite woman. The poles say "TECNOpro" on them, and I think the size is 44" (it is very faded.) The skis say "Sport DYNASTAR" on them, and the only other defining mark on top is "S137" on the boot clips. The edges of both skis say "V 140 7351268", and I am guessing that is a serial number of some sort. The boots are size USA 7, EURO 6, and say "DALBELLO" on the side, as well as "CARVEX" and "M39X". Near the heal, there is "286 MM", and on the back of the ankle there is "MATRIX Diva DESIGN". FYI, these will eventually be going on craigslist here in Chattanooga and also down in Atlanta. Thank you!

Looking for a destination area with a good program for kids (mine are 5 and 8) open through April 21, 2007. Thinking primarily of Denver area but open to anything within reasonable flight distance of Boston.

Given mild interest, I wonder if the answer isn't 'free skiis,' but I worry about having a rough time -- it's been almost twenty years since I last skiied -- and giving up even though part of it might be the fault of the skiis.

How lousy can I get away with if I want cheap ones?

Or is it worth spending a few bucks?

Got any suggestions for brands, good web sites, price ranges, etc?
