I ski on Atomic Beta carve c:9s that are 170cms. I am planning to get an all mountain ski for better float and power thru crud. I mostly ski east coast, and I'm an advanced skier. My hight is 5' 10" 190lbs. Can I safely go to 178? Or should I look on the 168-170 range.

Do not go longer! At your height with new ski technology (well not that new anymore) 178 would be HUGE! I'm 6'1" and i ski on 174's. The ski should come up to about your lips or nose...

No way dude I'm a skier and own a ski shop your about my height i am 5'11. i ski on 162s and can turn real nice with them. i would stick to around 160 to 167 if i were u. Because there is a good chance that you will have a hard time turning the 178 and u wont like that so if your not racing i would go short not long. skis are getin shorter!!!! so stay safe both ways and don't go more than 170s

Use the longer ones. At your length and ability point you will get used to them in an afternoon or 2 and the only downside is in slender raise strains or genuine tight turns interior the bumps or trees. My one hundred eighty's serve me nicely until i'm getting in a a million M extensive raise line on a steep slippery section.

shorter skis are more fun for if you are making tighter turns but if you want to make wider turns then you would have no prob going to 178, i have always bought my skis extra long to get and extra year out of them

If you're confident in you're ability, then the size you choose is up to you. If you shred, then go with the big ski.
