I'm a beginner skier; I’ve been only 3 times. Every time I've rented skis so never thought twice about what size they were!
I was given skis from a friend (used skis) the boots fit well, nice and snug, but how do I know if the actual skis are the right fit??

I'm about 5'5 and weigh 105 lbs.... by knowing this information, would someone be able to tell me what size skis I would need? ....I'm going skiing this weekend, I need to figure out if I can use the skis that were given to me, or rent some.
Thanks in Advance! :)

Based on your height and weight, skis that are 140's would be good for you. In general, you don't want skis to be taller than you, when held straight up (they should be about forehead level). The 140s (it's in centimeters) are about 4.6 feet, so that's less than your height of 5 foot 5 (about 165 in cm).

In general, the shorter the skis, the easier it is, so people tend to get longer skis as their ability level increases. However, you won't really notice a 5 cm difference, so if they skis were around 135 or 145, those should work fine too.

Did you try the boots in the skis, too? Boots and ski bindings (what they fit into on the skis) are matched up when the bindings are first installed on the skis, so that is something to consider, also.

Good luck, and have fun!
