don't do the jumps with the blades. Although they seem easier to jump with, since they are so light, they are actually harder to perform tricks with, since the slightest change in weight will cause them to grab an edge when you dont want them to. They are much easier for casual jumpers or for people who have mastered the art of jumping on skis first. If you wanna get real serious, dont start with the blades.

Try with skis first, and dont use your poles. Try doing a box slide in them first. Jump onto the box, go straight, then jump off. Next, try jumping and try turning the skis perpendicular to the box and right before the end, turn them paralell again. Practice on the box run a couple of times. Remember to keep your balance centered, because a lean either way will cause you to stop in the box, which may throw you off balance.

Also try hitting some of the larger jumps in a terrain park. Remember to lean forward in the approach and then balance out right before the jump. Dont lean backwards, as that is very dangerous.

You wanna first master the art of jumping in the skis, then gradually bring yourself down in size. If you straight from skis o blades, it becomes extremely difficult, since the placement of the foot on the blades is radically different from skis. It is much easier if you start with normal twin tips in your size, then go down a size and keep going down a few sizes - maybe a size a year. It will take a few years before you can master the ski blades in the park.

I've seen more kids get hurt ski blading than sking in terrain pakrs, since they think it is easier, but until they master it in skis, they are just a liability to the mountain.

They are designed for aerodynamic properties not ski-ability. The size and width of them allows them to fly through the air like a wing and create lift. A traditional ski would plummet to the earth in half the time and distance. Of course a ski jumping ski would be horrible found recreational skiing...

if your just starting out i would recomend skis. Because skis are longer they allow you to be leaning more forward or back wards when you land. With blades, if your leaning the lightest bit back or forward you will fall.

Practice without skis. You may want to seek a gymnast coach who will be able to tell you how to do flips.
