Take the extra 2 hours on the plane and fly into Reno. You will have multiple resorts within 30-45 minutes of driving or take a 2 hour drive south and go to Mammoth.Tahoe usually has snow that time of year and Mammoth is generally open into late May or June(sometimes even July or August).

Most places are actually closed by late April.

You will definitely need to travel to the west though. I don't know about Colorado, but Snowbird (Utah) is always open at that time. That is the only one I know of for sure that is open. I'm sure some other western areas will be too. Snowbird was open into June last year.

Red River New Mexico near Taos is a great place to learn, and one of the cheapest places to ski in the west. aside from the very manageable mountain for all ski levels (except maybe the most advanced), the ski school is very friendly and the western-style town is great to walk and has a bunch of family friendly apres ski places.

Look for B&B's there as well as conventional lodges... I think the one I stayed at was call the Yellow Rose, but I'm not certain anymore.

i replaced into in Park city final april and it replaced into nevertheless open. i think of Deer Valley continues to be open a sprint later, too. this is advisable to verify Alta and Snowbird additionally--they are eye-catching and so exciting to ski. i understand that Utah hasn't been getting that lots snow this wintry climate, so the backside will probable be partly long previous with the aid of previous due april, so which you will have lots much less techniques
