do you think it is improper to shoot a pistol revolver or a submachine gun with one hand? I don't see why a small pistol type arm would require two hands if there not long guns like rifles and shotguns.

Or are we in a "generation of overkill" when it comes to hunting deer sized game, specifiacally whitetail deer? I go deer hunting at my camp every season up at my camp in Marienville, PA. The farthest shot I know of up there has been about 75 yards. With that being said, many of my grandpa's friends come up to hunt, as well as my uncle, grandpa, etc. My grandpa's friend uses a .300 Rem. Ultra. Mag. , my cousins grandpa uses a .300 Weatherby, and my granpa and uncle both use 7mm Rem. Mags. Me and my cousin are the only hunters with standard calibers (30-06 and 30-30), which is just ridiculous. Lastly, I was reading an article on how the magnum trend is increasind among hunters. Does everyone else agree. Thanks.

I just bought a .38 special and some full metal jacket rounds for the shooting range and it looked to me like they were the best choice for targets, and not the hollowpoint self-defense ammo. I was wondering would full metal jackets be the best choice or should I get some lead cowboy loads the next time I buy a box of .38 specials.

I am looking for a good, small, light weight gun that I can use for home defense, and take it out with me when I need to. (I have my concealed carry permit). Any suggestions? I have a .38 snub nose and a .38 long, but they seem too heavy to carry around.

My Husband is thinking about buying a deer rifle. He's not sure of what rifle to buy. His main choices are a Ruger Mark 2 in stainless with synthetic stock .270 cal. New price is 444.44 He has seen a Browning A-bolt Stainless Stalker at a pawn shop in well used condition. Scratches on the barrel and ejector plate and needs a good cleaning. Also scratches on the stock from a strap for 475.00 .270 cal. Any thoughts. New or used maybe something he hasn't thought of. Prefer .270 or 30-06 or 7 mag.

Can someone please give me the formula to calculate delivered energy? For instance, a 230gr bullet travelling at 850 fps delivers how much energy to a target at 25 yards?

How much vaiation in ft/lbs does barrel length give.
For instance, the same scenario above using a 5" barrel, and a 3" barrel.

I am looking to buy carbine rifle and am thinking either an SKS or an M1A. I will be shooting it 99% of the time on a range, not for hunting. Anyone with experience with one or both, what are the strengths and weakness of these two rifles. Also, how much can I expect to pay for each type. Thanks in advance for the advice.

I've been looking around for a seller of home defense shotguns for sometime, and I just can't seem to find a good one. I live in San Marcos, California, 92078 and the only store I've found yet is Duncan's Gunworks which sells their guns for pretty high prices. I'll purchase a used one if thats what it takes, but if there are cheap new ones then I'd love to find the place that sells them. Help?

Why is it that kids with only video game experience come on to answer firearms questions like they're an expert because they're on level 10 of some video game, then get bent all out of shape when someone corrects them? Since when does playing halo make anyone a firearms expert?

I am 37 yrs old and 6'3". I know nothing about what type of bow to get. There is a Cabella's, Bass Pro Shop and Dick's sports close to me. I will use this bow for lots of practice and eventual hunting deer, turkey and possibly much larger game. I have become addicted to the Outdoor Channel watching big game bow hunting and mess around with my neighbors bow in the backyard. I want to begin seriously learning and hunting soon. I assume there are bows that will work for all sizes of game. I dont know what brand, style or anything else to get. I know I could spend a ton on a state of the art bow. I want to get a nice bow that can do it all but at the most reasonable price so, I dont want to get the best, most expensive bow. Something reasonable. Thanks in advance for the advice.

when the mini series rifles fire the same caliber and accept simililar hi cap mags... Many liberals think the cali assault weapons ban is effective yet they do not know that it is purely a cosmetic ban with little bearing on the availability of these caliber rifles? why are they so ignorant politically?
