Every once in a while I see a weapon on TV that looks like a rifle, but has a revolving cylinder like a pistol. Think of a revolver with a realllly long barrel and a stock. Is there a special name for this kind of gun. What's its primary purpose? (it's usually being used as a sniper weapon when I see it in movies, etc)

I shoot, I hang out with people who shoot.People who shoot are some of the smartest people I know, seriously, all kidding aside so cut it out.
This is simply to satisfy my curiosity.
The faucet in my kitchen is the closest one to the hot water heater and it's the only one this particular oddity occurs on.
When I turn the hot water on in the kitchen, and let it run with my hand under it, it gradually gets warmer, as it should, then there's a sudden, quick blast of cold water, then it's hot immediately afterwards. This has always happened, for about 20 years that I've had this house. All the other faucets just gradually get warm until it's all the way hot, no sudden blast of cold water. Any speculation or conjecture as to why this is happening with my kitchen hot water faucet?
This has been an ongoing curiosity with me, since I first bought this house 20+ years ago, never really thought to ask anyone about it until I discovered yahoo answer!
Thanks for reading.

Why the different barrel lengths on rifles? Is a 22" inch as good as a 24",and is a 24" just as good than a 26".or 28"?

If I hear one more time that hunters are unbalancing the ecosystem I will go crazy! We are the ones keeping it in balance! We don't hunt, the animal overpopulates, and everything goes downhill from there. Not to mention hunters are the ones paying the taxes to keep endangered animals alive! Does anyone agree with me?

I am looking to purchase a new handgun, preferable a 9mm. I use to be in love with the Walther P99, but I believe they redesigned it and ruined how cool it looks. Any suggestions on a good and Sharp looking pistol?

I've posted several answers in the past week or so expressing my opinion that buckshot in most cases is not suitable for harvesting deer.

This has prompted some lively and very polite (thanks guys) off-line email conversations that have been rich in information and thoughtful opinions.....so much so that I'm inspired to bring the topic up as a public question because there are some very differing opinions here.

Personally, I have had several experiences with buckshot used by hunting partners that have led me to my opinion. Tracking a wounded animals for hours and then losing that track..... or in one case, giving up from heavy snowfall and exhaustion are not exactly moments in the field that I'm proud of, but it happens. I just see the potential for this situation so much more likely with buckshot as opposed to rifle, sabot ot slugs.

So please share your opinion and experiences and your state laws too. Thanks, DJ

I'm torn apart on what color I should buy. I have decided that I want a supernova to use on clays and hunting. But is there really a huge difference in what color i choose? I wanted a black gun, but then there are camo options too. What would you suggest as a better color?

My double barrel shotgun has a modified choke and a full choke. Is it okay to shoot LEAD buckshot through both of them?Try to keep in mind that it is an older shotgun, (12 ga. I'm not quite sure how old it is, probably somewhere from 50 - 15 years old), so it probably has wall thinner than most shotguns made today.

Thanks A LOT!!!!!

My father in law has Alzheimers and my mother in law wants his gun collection out of the house. Someone offered to buy it from her for $1500.00. She would like to know what it is worth since she is on a fixed income and they need the money.

Also, it is in mint condition and has only been fired two times.

I kinda feel bad for animals that have to hunt so they can survive because they've got to be able to hunt, overpower and need good perception in order to stay alive. We as humans only need MONEY to eat, but a lot of animals, such as lions, tigers, etc. have to basically be savages in order to obtain a meal.

Im looking into bying a set of fiber optic sights for my Springfield XD Sub-Compact 9mm. My question is this. Do all the XD's have the same sights? I found what I want online for Springfield XD but cannot find one specificly for a Sub-Compact. I need a definite answer as to wether the sights are exactly the same regardless if its a Sub-Compact or Full Frame version.
Furthermore is there any brand of Fiber Optic sight thet is better than the other? Tru Glow makes some they sell on Amazon for about $57 with shipping. Can I get em cheaper somewere else or is that the going price.
Third, is the sight something I can swap out myself or do I have to take my peice to a gunsmith?\
Thanks.
