My father in law has Alzheimers and my mother in law wants his gun collection out of the house. Someone offered to buy it from her for $1500.00. She would like to know what it is worth since she is on a fixed income and they need the money.

Also, it is in mint condition and has only been fired two times.

best bet would be to call a few gun shops in the area and see if they have any or look for a the price of a new one or used one and go from there, if its a private buyer you should have room to negotiate.... best of luck

Without knowing more about the rifle, it's hard to say. That would be a good price for many AR type rifles, but you may have something special worth more.

Call a couple of shops in your area and ask if they can look at it and make you an offer, then compare what they offer to the first offer.

When you post here looking for values, any and all information printed on the gun itself will help us get a good value for you, plus the finish color, barrel length in inches and a good physical description.

It depends on the brand, and features.

$1500 is a good price for many AR's.. If it's a Colt, that sounds about right.

Look up the brand and look on the website for the manufacturer. You'll like find the prices for the new one.

Common manufacturers
Colt
Bushmaster
Rock River
DPMS

$1500 sounds about right, but if it's an older model and possibly select fire, it may be worth more, but harder to get rid of.
Some AR-15 were "illegally" modified to be fully-automatic machine guns. If your father in law has one of those, you may wanna keep it quite until you can talk with someone you trust that is knowledgeably on the matter. If your sure it's a straight up AR-15, different models and manufactures can increase the value, Colt and Armalite being the better ones.
Barrel length can be a legal hassle too if it has a short after market barrel on it.
Also, don't advertise it as "mint condition". Fired- like new, would be more accurate.

Thats a nice rifle your talking about i would keep it if you can get away with it and sell it in about 10 years time for even more money but it sounds as though youve got a good deal so go for it if you need it

If it is an original Colt, and in good condition, $1500 would sound right on the nose.

$1500 sounds about right. In fact, I always thought a new one was like $1200, correct me if I'm wrong.

If I were you, I would see if you could keep it. An AR-15 is monstrous self-defense. I could sure use one myself right now.
