No, deer hunting should not be illegal. About 90% of the money for wildlife and wildlands conservation comes from hunting/hunters. Hunting deer controls the population so that the herds are able to survive. If you stopped deer hunting you would kill more deer than hunter kill from starvation.

Which would you really prefer, the quick, humane taking of a few deer or the slow, painful, ecologically damaging deaths of hundereds of deer by starvation?

brex and mindy, If you eat, (even a vegan diet), you hunt. Just because you do your hunting by proxie is no reason to compare the hunting of deer to murder. And yes, even if you don't eat meat, you hunt by proxie to protect the crops. So the only other reason I can think of that you would want to outlaw hunting is that you want the slow, painful, ecologically damaging deaths of hundereds of deer by starvation.

Mindy, animals don't have the same rights as humans because they are animals, not humans

Brex, killing a deer is not he unlawful killing of a human, (the definition of murder)

Deer hunting should be encouraged at this time because deer are overpopulated in most of America and if people don't control their numbers there will be mass starvation.
I live in the woods and deer are a safety hazard on the roads. Deer come to my garden and destroy as much of it as they can. Those who say we should not hunt deer are saying I should starve. Vegetarians are responsible for more animal deaths than deer hunters. What about all the worms, field mice, rabbits, and even deer that get killed by farm machinery every year when planting and harvesting vegetables for vegans? What about all the pesticides used to kill all the insects? That amounts to chemical warfare against entire species, and vegetarians feel superior because they don't eat meat while billions of animals are killed to make sure they get their veggy burgers. Anti- hunters are ruled by emotions and their emotions are based on fallacies having nothing to do with nature or the real world.

That's just plain silly. Of course they should be hunted.
I've seen what happens when they're overpopulated, and it isn't pretty. I've also had to participate in some pretty sickening mass doe kills when things got out of hand, and I'd rather not have to go through that again. Managed hunting is by far the best option.
I have a fondness for deer, and I can't imagine anybody hating them enough to eliminate hunting. It's just too cruel.

I don't hunt deer but if anything we should be hunting a few more of them. I live in the city and have seen 3 dead on the sides of the highway IN town and 4 live ones in the grass between the local ball diamond and the highway! Their population needs to be controlled!

Pennsylvania got deer hunting banned for 3 years, the population soared, damage to the trees, forest, yards etc. was HUGE, and there were several nasty diseases that were normally rare that suddenly exploded causing deer to die of awful tumours and growths... I can still remember the pictures of some of them... :-(

Deer are good meat and most hunters are careful to get a clean kill and butcher up the meat so it is much better than them dying of starvation or disease or getting hit on the highway. I talked to a guy that there were 11 of them and they had 9 tags and had all the tags filled in 2 days.

Asking a hunter if he thinks deer hunting should be legal is a waste of time. YES, we do think it should be legal. What you should do is to submit this question to some game biologists to see what they tell you. If you are truly interested in an answer to this question, you will follow through and ask them. Ask them if the anti-hunting crowd has any reasonable alternative to hunting for healthy control of game animals. I know what they will say but you need to hear it for yourself.

"Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so too." Some people choose to Hunt & some don't Hunt.* It is a matter of ones freedom to choose or personal choice or decision.* The only way it should ever become against the law or illegal is for it to be mandatory that every man, woman & child must Hunt.* I don't see that happening to Anyone, Anywhere at Anytime in the Future.* Wildlife is a renewable resource and was meant to be harvested by those people who participate in the Sport of Hunting.*The present population of Game that is available in huge amounts is because of Hunters like myself.* Avid Hunter with Bow & Arrow, Rifle, Shotgun & Revolver.**

Nope it should be legal we actually help control their population and the spreading of disease and deer related accidents plus it taste good you should try it sometime. Sportsman and woman are resourceful with the deer they kill. So with this wanting to make deer hunting illegal will this also mean that it would be illegal for a wolf, coyote, cougar, bear...etc. to kill a deer ? Even though they don't shoot it or use a bow and arrow. They are hunters to. I don't like the thought of just eating nothing but vegetables or the vegan food should it be illegal because I don't like it ? You don't have to like but don't ruin it for people who enjoy it , like I don't ruin it for the vegetable / vegan eating people.

No. There is more to deer hunting than just killing them. Ecological and conservation concepts such as thinning the herd actually promote the species by reducing the frequency of disease due to overpopulation. It also allows the herds to have a sufficient amount of cover to survive. This is a very simplified explanation, but you get the point.

No, i think people like that second poster posting stupid answers on here should be illegal. Deer are overpopulated and a pest and need to be hunted. If you gie it long enough, i bet they would grow gills to adapt to living inwater because there wouldnt be anywhere else for them to go. And by the way, it is legal and will always be, so if you have a problem with it, go away.

Every day I see these people eating the rocks and twigs and berrys and veggies and I think, when will it stop?
Every day I see the decline of the veggies on the market and ask When will we run out?
It tears me up to know that some day my grandchildren will have no veggies to eat and all the good twigs and rocks will have been taken by this insensitive self serving group of Vegans.
Then I see in the news that the fuel industry is reaping tons of corn and other grains to feed the cars of these glutenous Vegans. The growing of veggies is now become a dollar for dough game, a cheap commodity to be traded like.....pork bellies....It has to Stop....
Who is with me...Should we make the harvesting of veggies and twigs and rock Illegal? I say we contact our Congressmen and menettes and get a law passed protecting the helpless veggies...If we don't do it....Who will?
