Rohm is a German manufacturer of small hand guns and air guns. Don't see too many of the guns here anymore; I don't believe they import anything into the U.S. any longer.

Rohm Pistol

Are you certain it is not a Rohm RG-22, rather than an RG-24? I've never heard of the 24 but the RG-22 is probably the original 'Saturday-Night-Special.' These guns function and sometimes all too well. I actually called for backup in the Sixties when I noticed a suspect 'unlawfully carrying' in an all-night restaurant never dreaming he could be law with an RG-22 barely concealed in his waistband. My sergeant severely reprimanded me then said I did a good job spotting the junky piece (I was a rookie then). The suspect was a customs agent working undercover using the RG-22 as part of his 'cover.' The next morning he showed up bright and early all clean-cut in coat and tie to complain to my Chief of Police. The Chief thought it was funny and couldn't stop laughing while 'discussing' the matter with me. Apparently I was the only officer who didn't know who the agent was and that he carried an RG for cover. For years I looked over my shoulder until I learned that this agent was transferred elsewhere.

About three years ago I responded to a shooting. A man had been shot in the belly button with an RG-22 loaded with shorts. I hadn't seen one of these RG-22s in ages. Typically, there is NO exit wound and in this case none could be found. The wounded man complained of a 'heaviness in his scrotum,' and an X-ray confirmed that he would be 'walking funny' for the next week or so. The good news is that he... Survived!

Anyhow, the RG model pistols were deemed useless for anything but Saturday Night mayhem and the lawmakers declared that they could not longer be imported. There are still a bunch out there, but they would not be my first choice, period.

Best.

on a scale of 1-10 for quality, with 1 being the worst, the early rohm 22lr revolvers imported to the U.S. were a -1( pure junk) the cylinders were not timed and it would spit lead out of the forcing cone area, they were dangerous to anyone standing to the sides when fired. Firing pins were brittle and failed quickly. I don't believe they are improted to the U.S. anymore ( good riddance) and I would not allow them into the shop for repair.

I have an RG 22 convertible, (has a 22lr and a 22mag cylinder) it shoots ok but I hardly use it. It was given to me by a retired cop. I would NEVER buy something as poorly made as an RG. I had a gunsmith check it out and he said it was safe to shoot, but he did ask me why I would want to lolol. Out of all the pistols I have, for some reason the RG22 is my son's favorite one to shoot.

My dad had one back in the 60's. It's not imported because it is a piece of junk. Primarily aluminum with steel sleeve inserts for the barrel.
I wouldn't fire one.
