YES, A Ruger 10-22 fresh out of the box is a great rifle to mount a scope on. I would suggest that you get a 1" diameter tube Scope in a fixed 4 Power magnification to start with. You will be amazed how accurate your Ruger can be with a scope. The are also a total blast to upgrade with match barrels and all the dozens of accessories out there that you can buy.....

I think most people do scope their 10/22. My recommendation for a scope for that rifle is a fixed 4 power scope. Don't bother with the cheap .22 scopes, they're just junk and you'll be sorry that you wasted your money. Buy a decent fixed 4 power scope that has a 1 inch tube. The scopes that are made for .22s all have 3/4 inch tubes and crappy lenses. Leupold makes good scopes.

I bought my 10/22 in 1992 and put a scope on it as soon as I got it. It's a 3-12x40 Tasco, not that great a scope but good enough, and it shoots good. I zero it at 60 yards and with the duplex cross hair on my scope it's zeroed at 100 yards if I pull up the where the cross hair starts to get thick.

Yes. The 10/22 is good enough to warrant a scope.
Tip: Check out airgun scopes. - They'll take the
.22 recoil, ('springers' jump more than a .22),
they're optimized for short ranges, and they're cheap
for the quality of optics you get.

sure, a lot of people mount scopes on em. I use a straight 4x wide view weaver scope on mine for shooting "whistle pigs" and it shoots great.
