As a Gunsmith & Remington Dealer.I would suggest you contact Remington ASAP and make arrangement to ship your gun back to the factory for repairs or get authozation to have it repaired at a Remington Authorized Repair Center nearest to where you live. The problem is mechanical and is extremerly dangerous to shoot without the proper repairs. The problem you describe is NOT a normal issue for Remington Over/Unders. You can actually fill out the proper forms for repair authorization online at remington.com. Again, I can assure you that this is a mechanical issue and not a result of dirt or a need to be cleaned further. This sounds like a trigger-Sear trip issue and will only get worse without repair. Good Luck!

I won't comment on the quality of the Spartan line of shotguns. I have not examined any of them yet.

I will say that I've known of some high quality guns to have similar problems.

What is happening is that the sear is being shaken loose in recoil allowing the second barrel to go off when the first barrel is fired.

With a box-lock shotgun, I'd not recommend you attempt to make a repair yourself. Do as JD suggested and contact Remington to arrange repair at a certified warranty center.

Good Luck, and Good Shooting,
Doc

I agree with the above, that this doubling is not a regular problem with Remington Shotguns.

The problem is, the Spartan is not a Remington shotgun - rather a Russian manufacter junker, with the Remington name on it. I suggest you get it fixed, then sell it and get a 332, 320 (Peerless), or something made in Ilion.
