I like "whitetails.com". It has everything to deer photos and deer anatomy, to shot placement and caliber choice. Good luck.

Ok, hold your horses! Forgive if I'm wrong but it doesn't seem like your prepared to go out the year. First off take a hunter safety course. You can gain that information through your local game commission's web site. Then talk, read or anything else to learn about hunting and being a ethical hunter. Also spend lots of time at the range learning and practicing your rifle. You'll need to be sure you can take an ethical shot before heading out to field. And if you don't have a rifle consult you local gun shop. Be safe, shoot strait and have fun!

"Everything there is to know about deer hunting, and everything about guns (rifles)" would take more than any human's lifespan to learn. About the best you can do in a week would be to check local stores for the most current hunting magazines. Most are loaded with deer hunting information and tips at this time of year. As for firearms, talk to the people at a local sporting goods store where they sell them.If the people have been in business for any appreciable length of time they will be able to give you excellent info on deer hunting rifles.

I agree. Do some reading from Field and Stream, or a similar magazine; they'll be loaded with deer hunting tips this time of the year. The only way you'll get to know your guns, however, is from practicing with them.
Good luck. I hope you enjoy hunting!

If you're going for the first time next week and "don't want to look like a retard", try admitting your ignorance and let the hunters you're going with teach you rather than trying to pick up random and probably useless information on Yahoo.

Ask your friends that are taking you hunting. The only way you will look like a retard is if you act like you know what you are talking about and dont.
