it seems like almost every person who asks a hunting or gun related question gets harrassed for "killing innocent animals." why do people care so much? its not like telling someone they shouldn't hunt is actually gona make them suddenly stop hunting. i don't go to your vegitarian questions and say your going to die of diseases caused by difeciencys in your diet. the truth is, animals that are hunted are much better off than those that are raised in a cage, awaiting their death. hunting also prevents overpopulation, which would cause many more animals to die slowly or starvation or disease. if you don't believe that, ask any biologist who studys ecosystems.
people who just dont like guns: what are you planning to protect your family with when someone breaks into your house, or osama invades our country?
people are just simply ment to eat meat, look at your teeth.

please stop harrassing people with your ignorance.

My father is a 3rd strike felon, but the guns he had before are at my grandparent's house. My grandpa says the guns are theirs now, but does anyone know what the actual law on that sort of transfer? all I know is that it falls under 'inter-familial' transfer, and he promised me these rifles years ago, and now there's a huge fight over it.

I don't understand why some people have this sort of attitude that just because someone doesn't know a lot about something and has some questions about it, that they are automatically against the thing they are questioning about. Seems as if we have some really defensive people here.

I need someone who understands about hunting to explain to me about it. How is it a sport? And if it isn't a sport, what is the point of it? What is the excitement...just to see if you can shoot something? I'm not sure why that's so interesting and/or fun. Please explain everything to me.

What's a gun?

2007-01-16 09:20:32 · 13 answers · asked by Andrew 2

I'm soon going to be a first-time gun owner. I am in the market for a pistol. Ideally, I would like a Springfield XD. However, I have heard on a few occasions that beginners should learn good marksmanship by starting off with .22s. While I really don't want a .22, I also want to do the "smart" thing, and if owning a .22 is best, I will do that. Also, I would greatly prefer to save my money and just go straight to the XD and not have to buy a .22 first.

Some educated input would be greatly appreciated...thanks

This includes deer, duck, turkey, etc. I own a 12 guage Remington 870 that I mostly have used for clay pigeon shooting and target practice. I don't have many friends that hunt, and grew up in the city all my life. Please help!

I really like the mauser c96 (broomhandle pistol) and am trying to acquire one but as far as I've seen the authentics go for at least $1200 and that is too much for a weapon that I wouldn't be able to fire aka a display piece. So, I was wondering if any companies make authentic, fireable reproductions of the c96. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was surprised to see people suggesting a Moss 500 for turkey hunting. I have one, but it has a slug barrel. Is changing a barrel something you can do yourself? I've done some minor stuff on it, just changing butt stocks and adding a side saddle and sling nuts. If I can get away with just changing the barrel back and forth for now, I'd rather do that, than invest in a new gun for something I'm just starting to do.

Thanks.

I've seen these conversion kits for shotguns that replace the butt of the gun with a another butt that has a pitsol grip below. So it's still shoulder-mounted, but you grip the pistol grip instead of the beginng of the butt. Is there any advantage of this? Here is an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.popguns.com/shotgunaccessories/atitacticalstock.htm
