When I was in the Army they taught me a song.
This is my rifle,
This is my gun,
This is for shooting,
This is for fun.
You were holding your weapon in one hand and your crotch in the other. You can guess which was which.

A gun is any device with a round barrel which drives a projectile using a power source. Therefore, a catapult is NOT a gun, while a plastic tube that drives a potato is a gun.
The power source can be things like compressed air, hair spray, gunpowder or other suitable energy sources.
The projectile can be potatoes, nails, bullets, grenades, lead shot, steel shot, etc.
Some guns are single shot and must be reloaded for every shot. Others will have a magazine containing additional ammunition.

i hate hearing people talk badly of guns. sure, in the right hands, they are bad, but shooting and hunting are very great sports. think about this: what would you do to protect your family if an intruder entered your house, and you didn't own a gun? most likely your whole family would be greatly affected because you think guns are evil. if you think it will never happen to you, you are ignorant. i know of a few people who owe their lives to owning a gun.
a gun is a very useful tool. it has many uses, such as: hunting, target shooting, trap shooting, and personal and home defence.

Well, if you're in the military, then a gun is a pistol, all else are weapons. You point to your rifle and say "This is my weapon", then to your pistol and say "this is my gun", back to your rifle "this is for fighting", back to your pistol "and this is for fun".
