Hunting - November 2006

I am a college student strapped for cash. I am looking for an inexpensive intermediate deer rifle. I have looked at both of these guns for under $300, however the 710 does come with an inexpensive scope. I was wondering which one was the better firearm, and if i should buy the 270 or the 30-06?

Is one barrel better for short range and one better for long range or is one the better all around for both? Lets say the gun is .270 or .300 caliber or something of the high power rifle range.

I havested a couple of deer. I normally process the deer right after returning home from the hunt. I do not have the time to do it, so I put the two deer into this old working freezer I have. The deer have been field dressed of course. I was wondering about the two deer being in the freezer is this a good thing. I know you can hang deer outside for a couple of days if temps stay low enough, but I have never heard of someone putting a whole unskinned deer in the freezer for couple of days. Anyone have any answers of this?

how come when they hunt with frog poison blow darts and other poisons when the people eat the monkey or other animal they don't get poisoned?

My husband doesn't show any interest in hunting at all. I learned at a young age how to shoot with very good accuracy (rifles with my dad and pabst beer cans--we'd aim for the ends of the ribbon) Recently the season opened and I'm feeling like I'm missing out. I never field dressed a deer, or hacked one up- how do I learn how to do all the stuff after I get one?

I have some good recipies for venison too. So cooking isn't a problem for me.

ok so my best friend is majorly ant-hunting and i love to hunt more than anything in the world all he says is that is wrong and stupid o kill animals and that hunters just kill and mount them and laugh and say stupid stuff like i killed a deer and its bigger than yours and he thinks all hunters are like that but i tried telling him that most hunters hunt to get out in the woods and admire its buety and the animal the you harvests buety and hunters in most cases eat the meat becouse its so good and u cant buy it in stores. can anyone help me out with this its realy important. so if you have any ideas of what i could say to him please tell me. p.s. what i dont understand is that he will eat meat but he thinks hunting is wrong.

I have a yugo SKS and I read that the reciever cover is not a very stable platform and therefore does not result in better groupings than with the standard iron sights. Is this true and if so, what is a better way to mount the scope?

It is a .22 caliber single shot rifle. On the side of the barrel it has a crown then a "G" underneith it. It also has on the side of the barrel 6.4m? and the the letters C&W. Can anyone help me?

Picked up some bowling pins at the local alley as targets. The manager also gave me an old Hammer bowling ball. Everything I use on the Hammer will not spilt it. It absorbs everything I have used (.223, 7.62x54r, 8mm, 9mm, .45, .357, .44 and 1oz slug). Any suggestions ?
