Today I bought my first firearm: a Glock 19. It came in a plastic box that the dealer called "tupperware." I asked him if the gun was brand new and he told me that it was. He explained that they send these guns in these cases when they are sending them a significant amount of them.
I immediately took it to the range and 100 rounds went through with no problem. One of the other shooters asked me where I got the gun from and for how much, and when I told him where I got it, he told me to check the gun out as they had a shady reputation.
I called Glock to see what they could tell me about the specific weapon. They told me they couldn't tell me who the gun was sent to, but that the gun was made in 2000. He went on to hint that the gun may have been a rebuilt police pistol, but that it was not uncommon to see a weapon sit around for years before being bought. But I don't believe a Glock 19 would sit around for 6 years in a high traffic area like this.
